Santa Claus Braves the Rain
The Eighth Annual Santa Claus Parade took place in Hampton on Saturday, November 28 at 4:00 in the afternoon. Despite soggy weather, the entrants all turned out to make the parade colourful and entertaining. The rain actually ceased as the parade began, making it much more enjoyable for the many viewers along Main Street. HACC thanks all participants and the many volunteers who helped once again this year to make the Hampton Santa Claus Parade a fun start to the holiday season.
The award for Best School Entry this year goes to Hammond River Elementary School. Best Marching Unit was judged to be the Hampton Sea Cadets. Best Commercial Entry was awarded to Hampton Pharmasave. The Hampton Scouts, Cubs and Beavers won for the Best Youth Group Entry. and the Best Overall Entry was judged to be the Town of Hampton Gingerbread House. Awards will be presented at the Mayor’s Levee on New Years Day. Congratulations to all winners, and thanks to everyone who put time and effort into some great entries.
The Hampton Santa Claus Parade would not be financially possible without the generosity of several donors. This year’s sponors were: Bamara Inn, Loughery Law Office, Lutz Longstaff, Dr. James Collings and The Town of Hampton. We are grateful to these benefactors whose monetary gifts allowed the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce to stage the 2009 parade for the enjoyment of the children of our community.
