HACC CELEBRATES 30 YEARS!!!
On October 22, 2009, members and guests gathered at the Hampton Seniors Resource Centre to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the founding of the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce.
Shirley Bettle graciously asked the blessing before a delicious dinner buffet, catered by Holly’s Restaurant, was enjoyed. CBC Host Steven Webb kept us on course during the evening’s program.
Seven of the original eleven founding members of the Hampton Area Chamber were present as special guests of HACC: Dr. William Rector, Thomas Turnbull, Horold Bettle, Lewis Moulton, Donald Jenkins, Howard Spalding and Senator Joseph Day. Locke Perry was unable to attend, due to family illness, but was represented by his son, Kevin. Debbie Francis of Lutz Longstaff attended to represent David Lutz who was out of town. William Bell and Lindsay Sabean, deceased members of the original Board of Directors, were remembered.

Gerald Pond, Guest Speaker
As each founder was acknowledged, Steven Webb read a brief biography highlighting the individual’s contribution to the Chamber and to the community. A gift was presented by the Chamber to each of the Founders at the conclusion of Steven’s remarks.
Guest speaker for the evening was Gerald Pond, Chairman, Mariner Partners Inc. Gerry spoke about the new and exciting fields available for today’s entrepreneurs, a look into the future as the past was honoured.
HACC wishes to thank all who attended and helped make the 30th Anniversary a success. Special thanks go to CBC Radio’s Steven Webb and to Gerald Pond. They helped to make this a truly special evening.
